Winner of the 2007 Essentially Ellington Essay Contest
In addition to traveling to New York City to play at the prestigious Essentially Ellington festival with the Roosevelt Jazz Band, as winner of the essay contest, his name will be engraved on one of the seats in the Frederick P. Rose Hall at Jazz At Lincoln Center. He  also received numerous prizes, including round-trip airfare to NYC, a jazz CD collection AND the opportunity to read his essay for the audience at Essentially Ellington! Congratulations to Alex for his great work, not only on Clarinet and Alto Sax, but now as an award-winning writer!
