Singers who enjoy jazz will love the Roosevelt Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Students learn to perform standard vocal jazz arrangements and jazz improvisational techniques. Backed by a small combo, the group is open to students in grades 9-12. It stresses teamwork, dedication and harmony. s teamwork, dedication and harmony. Sightreading and prior vocal performance experience is preferred but not required. Students enroll in a class that meets daily, with extra rehearsals as required. The group travels to festivals and competitions throughout the western United States. Auditions are held each spring.
